Year Three Ozobots

​Year 3S experimenting with Ozobot and visual codes.
Our year three students are learning to code using an automatic guided vehicle (AGV) called Ozobot. Working with the Ozobots in an Apple (IOS) environment, students explore and develop simple visual codes to solve location and transformation problems. The lessons integrate aspects of the mathematics and technology curriculum.
Students work collaboratively to come up with succinct and efficient visual codes.
Presently, the classes are learning about the processes of debugging and decomposition. Debugging involves teams testing and retesting their solutions. Decomposition requires students to break problems into smaller parts that are more manageable. These ways of working and thinking - sometimes referred to as computational thinking or the design process - can be applied to other problem situations.
