1J and 1M are learning about healthy habitats for Science.
We looked at unhealthy habitats around the school. The unhealthy garden bed surrounding the SOAR pole at Kijini was discovered. We decided that we would turn this unhealthy habitat into a healthy habitat. This garden is near our classrooms which is close to the path near the Halstead Street entrance.
The soil was unhealthy at the start so we dug out some old soil and put new soil in the garden bed. We put new plants in and we watered them. We placed newspaper on top of the soil to stop the weeds from growing. Then we put mulch on top. Our job is to water it each day. Please enjoy looking at the flowers but no hands and feet are allowed in the SOAR garden because we want them to grow.
